Community resources Living Well Dying Well

When someone is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness, it can be hard to know what support to offer or even which words will bring comfort.

By sharing resources, information and practical support, Living Well Dying Well aims to enhance the journey of people living with a serious and life-limiting illness, to support them more fully, respond to their needs and help their families with the care that is needed.

To help raise awareness of this vital service,  we need your support. The following resources have been designed to be shared in our community, allowing more people to find the support when they need it most.

As part of the unique collaboration behind #LivingWellDyingWell, we’re aiming to build a community of support for people on their journey to end of life and their families. Find out more, including the answer to ‘what it means to live well and die well’ and how you can help at livingwelldyingwell.org

While it’s natural to want to try to be positive around those with a serious and life-limiting illness, we shouldn’t avoid discussions about what lies ahead. Your honesty and willingness to walk alongside someone in a time of great need can provide freedom for them to share what’s most important to them.

#LivingWellDyingWell provides information and material to help guide these conversations. We also offer training to volunteers who are then paired to journey with people seeking companioning. Find out more at livingwelldyingwell.org

The desire to provide practical help is common when supporting someone who is dying. If you’re willing and able, there’s an opportunity for you to act on this desire.

With comprehensive training #LivingWellDyingWell volunteers provide accompaniment to individuals who have a serious and life-limiting illness, as well as providing support for their family and carers.

Suggested copy: As Christians, we cannot separate life and death. To quote St Augustine “…our hearts are restless until they rest in you”.

So, while death can be a frightening mystery, the Church provides great hope in death being a call home to eternal life.

A collaborative effort of Catholic parishes and agencies, #LivingWellDyingWell aims to answer the big questions surrounding death and to support people living with a serious and life-limiting illness. Find out more at livingwelldyingwell.org
